Finding Peace

Lilly

Sometimes I find it is nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. When I need it, I am fortunate to be able to withdraw into another dimension where outside issues don’t and can’t penetrate.

I’ve talked about it before, but being in nature gives me that place of peace, and from time to time I like to reflect on and remember these moments that I’m also lucky enough to capture.

I don’t think of myself as a nature photographer, but do use nature photos as this avenue of escape. I have several photographer friends who are talented nature photographers and to whom I often look to for inspiration…Jim Damaske, Lara Cerri Samantha Bailey, Beth Reynolds, Michael Wilson and Rossie Newson are just a few in my small circle of photographer friends whose work I admire.

I look back and feel that I am lucky to have discovered this escape, lucky to have friends with similar passions, and even luckier that I have found avenues to share these special places and moments with others through my work. Because that’s a part of finding that peace…having the opportunity to share it with others.

The flower in this photo I recently shot is commonly called a Peace Lilly (Spathiphyllum) and I have several growing in my back yard. A fitting symbol of the peace I find in capturing its beauty.
